Race planning

The RCA ensures that racecourses are central in the formulation of race planning policy and in the delivery of initiatives to improve the race programme. The RCA was integral in designing the optimal race programme process, which has improved the approach of creating race programmes to benefit horsemen, racecourses, and the wider racing industry.

To support and enhance race planning, the RCA ensure members are provided with field size and betting performance data. We undertake analysis for individual racecourses on request, and provide analysis to inform race planning policy deliberations.

The RCA Racing Group meets throughout the year to consider race planning issues. It is chaired by the RCA Racing Director, and comprises representatives from all racecourses, including Jockey Club Racecourses, ARC, and large and small independents.
