RCA Launches 10th Annual Showcase & Awards

The Racecourse Association is proud to launch the tenth annual Showcase & Awards to celebrate and reward excellence and innovation at British Racecourses.

2018 Champions Hamilton Park will host the 2019 Showcase & Awards

In its celebratory decennary year, the marquee event of the RCA will be held at reigning champion racecourse Hamilton Park on Thursday 14th November; the first time the event has been hosted in Scotland.

The Showcase seminar will enable delegates to hear from speakers operating at the cutting edge of customer experience, with previous keynote presentations including AELTC Wimbledon, Arsenal FC, BT Sports Industry Awards agency of the year Two Circles, Center Parcs and Sporting Edge’s Michael Caulfield. The Showcase is also renowned for recognising the best from within the sport, with presentations from racecourses including Aintree, Ascot, Hamilton Park and Beverley amongst others.

The evening Showcase awards celebrate and reward excellence and innovation on British racecourses in delivering the raceday experience. The 12 categories encompass all aspects of the raceday with both business and individual awards. In conjunction with the sport’s Diversity in Racing Steering Group, a new Award to celebrate diversity & inclusion has been added to the roster.

The independent judging panel is comprised of recognised experts in their field, ensuring that all due consideration is given to select the best of 2019. This year’s panel is represented by Peter Clare (Consulting Partner, Seven League), Pam Foden (Director, Pam Foden & Associates), George Foster (Client Services Director, Two Circles), Pip Kirkby (Industry Liaison Officer, ROA), Lee Mottershead (Senior Writer, Racing Post) and Alan Park (Operations Director, Center Parcs).

The Showcase Seminar is a fantastic day of learning and sharing best practice amongst racecourses

Paul Swain, Brand & Experience Manager at the RCA commented “I am thrilled to be taking the Showcase & Awards to Hamilton Park in our decennary year. This event is a wonderful celebration of the best of British Racecourses and what better place to be than the home of our reigning champions.

“My team and I look forward to receiving the submissions from racecourses. I’ve no doubt that our tenth renewal will be as hotly contested as ever with the initiatives put forward by racecourses to enhance the raceday experience becoming more sophisticated and successful each year.

“We are grateful for the support from our partners Moët Hennessy, Racing Post and GBR and look forward to hosting what promises to be a fantastic event on Thursday 14th November.”

Vivien Currie, Chief Executive of Hamilton Park Racecourse, commented “We were delighted to be named as Showcase Champions in 2018.  As a small successful, independent racecourse and business we are incredibly honoured to be hosting the racing industry for the tenth anniversary awards. We can’t wait to showcase our venue and give everyone a warm Scottish welcome.”

Simon Hibbitt, National On-Trade Sales Manager at Moët Hennessy commented “Moët Hennessy is proud to continue our partnership with the RCA Showcase & Awards.  We look forward to seeing you all at Hamilton Park in November.”

Rod Street, Chief Executive of GBR, commented “The RCA Showcase & Awards is a fantastic customer-led initiative that highlights and celebrates innovation and excellence by racecourses. The fact that it is now in its tenth year just goes to show how highly it is valued.

“To be hosted in Scotland for the first time, following Hamilton Park’s Showcase Champion win in 2018, makes this year’s occasion even more special.

“Great British Racing is proud to be associated with the event and we look forward to learning how many aspects of the racing experience have been improved and enhanced this year.”

Racing Post’s Chief Marketing Officer Louise Agran commented “We are delighted to continue our sponsorship of the Showcase awards and congratulate the RCA on this 10 year anniversary.

“The Racing Post readers award is unique as our customers can vote for their best experiences on a racecourse and it is always wonderful to see how much they enjoy going racing. We wish all racecourses the best of luck.”
