RCA Reaction to 2026 Fixture List

Following the publication of the 2026 Fixture List, RCA Chief Executive David Armstrong commented:

“I am pleased to see the publication of the 2026 fixture list delivered in line with the agreed timetable which gives all stakeholders ample time to review, digest and plan ahead of next year.

“Perhaps one of the most eye-catching elements is the reduction of Premier Racedays to 52. I believe this is a logical step which should aid the marketing and promotion to customers of our major events. I am pleased to see efforts made to strike a balance between offering an attractive proposition in customer-friendly slots, such as weekends, and giving our major events chance to breathe.

“The agreed funding changes will see racecourses asked to make additional investment in certain areas throughout 2026, which comes against the backdrop of a record executive contribution figure from racecourses of £100m in 2024. This itself came amidst ongoing financial challenges facing racecourses, however we remain resolute in our commitment to delivering the highest feasible levels of prize money.

“The RCA and its members have been fully engaged in the fixtures and funding process via the RCA Racing Committee, and I am grateful for the considerable time and expertise offered by this group.”
