Newmarket—Sustainable Style Awards
The Newmarket July Festival Ladies Day is amongst the most prestigious racedays in British racing. Keen to maintain its position in the social calendar and looking to safeguard it for future generations, the Newmarket Racecourse team introduced a sustainable element to the event through the lens of reusable fashion. Working with existing partners and generating new leads for the racecourse, Newmarket emphasised the green credentials of recycling raceday outfits which clearly tapped into the mindset of racegoers: entrants to the Style Awards increased 18% from 2019.

Ripon—Greening Up
As the Garden Racecourse of Great Britain, Ripon is well suited to position itself at the heart of any sustainability plan. Set amongst beautiful green land, the Ripon Executive are acutely aware of their responsibility within the local area and to ensure horseracing can continue to thrive there for many years to come. Building on existing, successful initiatives to reduce the carbon footprint of travelling racegoers, reducing waste and energy usage across the business plus setting aspirational goals for the future, Ripon have truly ‘greened up’ and should quite rightly be heralded as amongst the best practice from within the sport.
